Description

Kwanza: “First” (not sure if this is the actual translation for that… Google is not always reliable)
Pride Affiliation: Mchanga wa Jangwa (birth)
Generation: Same as Kumshinda, still TBD
Relations: Son to Dikteka and Kuko;  older brother to Kumshinda

The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. Women are very powerful, they shape the way their children receive the morals that they will take to heart, how they will grow. At the time of Kumshinda’s youth, from birth to adolescence, he still had his mother’s voice in mind, still received the morals in which she passed on to him to prevent him from growing as cruel as his father who his people had renamed Dikteka, in miserable honor of his strict and fierce reign upon them all. Dikteka was not around very much during the cubhood of Kwanza, at the time the rogue problem had begun to escalate and as king Dikteka had to reign in his females from the alluring younger lions, for the period to mate and to create children that were not related to his own had ceased.

With his father gone often Kwanza had time to develop into a young gentleman, coached by Kuko into diplomacy and fairness that he would put into play after the death of his harsh father. Being so patient, Kwanza could only look on as his mother lost her voice in punishment for assisting an injured rogue, as his pridesisters were abused by his brother, to just wait and console those who needed to. The people of his pride loved and supported him, for the most part.

With the death of his father Kwanza got ready to take the crown, a day away from coronation when his brother’s patrol rushed to him carrying the body of Dhaifu, a former flame and his brother’s former mate before her disappearance, mutilated and very dead. The patrol told him Kumshinda was in trouble, that he had fought off rogues long enough for them to carry his mate’s body to safety. Too trusting of his brother to realize that there was no evidence of rogue handiwork on Dhaifu’s body, nor that the patrol smelled of other lands and had not been present for a few days, Kwanza took off running.

Right into Kumshinda’s trap.

Brother met brother in an isolated clearing of the desert on the border of the territory, Kwanza killed instantly when his brother jumped at him and clawed through his smaller, more compact brother’s mane to the jugular, where he ripped out as much throat as he could before decapitating the heir.

His head was brought back to the pride where it was explained to them that the rogues had killed their king to be. Distraught the lions of Mchanga wa Jangwa had no choice but to crown Kumshinda as their new King, the worst mistake the pride had ever made.

There, just cause I felt like writing down where Mbele came from, here is more to her birth pride.

So would he have been a good king had he not kicked the bucket?
